Important Knitting Notes
Use a firm gauge so stuffing does not show through. The pictured toy has smooth stockinette fabric with visible vertical knit columns. Stuff each piece firmly but not so tightly that the stitches stretch open.
When changing colors for tabby stripes, twist the yarns on the inside to avoid gaps. Stripes do not need to be perfectly identical on both sides, but they should sit in the same general areas: forehead, cheeks, arms, legs, and tail.
- Head shape: Large and round, slightly wider at the cheeks than at the crown.
- Body shape: Small pear-shaped torso hidden inside the romper.
- Legs: Short and straight with rounded feet showing brown tabby toes below the romper cuffs.
- Arms: Slim, tapered, and angled slightly downward.
- Romper: Pale yellow body with olive cuffs, shoulder straps, sunflower petals around the chest, and side flowers.
- Expression: Big glossy eyes, soft pink nose, embroidered lashes, whiskers, and a pink pacifier labeled “MILK.”
Body and Romper Base
The body is knitted in golden yellow first, so the romper looks built into the doll. The upper chest includes a dark brown triangular bib and olive green neckline, matching the image.

Stuff the body firmly, keeping the lower part round and the top narrower. The brown bib should face front. The olive ribbing forms the soft green neckline seen under the kitten’s head.
Legs and Feet
Make two legs. Each leg begins with a rounded tabby foot, changes to brown leg fur, then finishes with an olive cuff and yellow romper leg opening. The foot should point slightly forward.
First Leg

- Place sts on waste yarn and make the second leg the same way.
Join Legs
- Place both legs on needles with feet facing forward. Knit 16 sts of first leg, CO 2 center sts, knit 16 sts of second leg, CO 2 back center sts. 36 sts.
- Rnd 1: K all sts in golden yellow.
- Rnd 2: K all sts, decreasing 2 sts evenly at the sides. 34 sts.
- Rnd 3: K all sts.
- Rnd 4: K all sts, decreasing 2 sts evenly. 32 sts.
- Continue from Body Rnd 6 if you prefer a seamless body, or sew this joined lower section to the separately knitted body.
For the cleanest beginner-friendly result, knit the body separately as written above and sew it centered over the joined legs. This gives a sturdy standing shape and lets the romper sit neatly.
Head
The head is large and rounded with a slightly flattened lower face. Work it in tabby brown, adding dark vertical forehead stripes as embroidery after knitting. Place the safety eyes before closing the head.
- With tabby brown yarn, CO 8 sts and divide evenly.
- Rnd 1: Kfb in each st around. 16 sts.
- Rnd 2: K all sts.
- Rnd 3: K1, kfb around. 24 sts.

- Rnd 27: K3, k2tog around. 24 sts.

- Rnd 30: K2tog around. 6 sts.
- Cut yarn, thread through remaining sts, pull closed, and weave in securely.
Muzzle Pad and Nose

- Row 1: K all sts.
- Row 2: P all sts.

Tabby Face and Body Stripes
The tabby markings are essential to matching the picture. Use dark brown yarn and a tapestry needle. Keep stitches smooth and slightly sunk into the knitted fabric.
- Forehead center stripe: Embroider one long vertical stripe from between the ears down to the upper forehead, about 8 rounds long.
- Forehead side stripes: Add two shorter dark stripes on each side of the center stripe, each 5 to 6 rounds long.
- Cheek stripes: Add three short angled stripes on each cheek, slanting outward from the eye area.
- Eye accents: Embroider dark curved lines extending outward from each eye to create the soft lash shape.
- Leg stripes: Add one dark stripe around each exposed lower leg if the knitted stripe is not visible enough.
- Arm stripes: Reinforce the dark knitted stripes with small duplicate stitches where needed.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Store the kitten in a dry place away from direct sunlight to protect the warm browns, yellows, and greens from fading. Keep the sunflower petals flat and avoid stacking heavy objects on the toy.
For long-term display, place the kitten upright with the tail supported and the hat stored flat. Brush away dust with a soft dry cloth. If the pacifier or bag shifts, secure it again with small hidden stitches instead of pulling the yarn tightly.
