  • Recommended fabric: firm, smooth, and slightly dense.

Pattern Notes

  • This pattern is worked mostly in the round for a smooth knitted toy finish.
  • Stuff each piece gradually. Do not overstuff the face because the puppy needs a soft rounded expression.
  • The puppy in the photo has a large rounded head, small body, long brown ears, white muzzle, and short plush legs.
  • The clothing is knitted separately and sewn on, so the overalls and striped shirt look layered like the image.
  • Use small backstitches and mattress stitch for neat assembly.
  • All color changes should be twisted gently on the inside to prevent holes.

  • Use brown yarn to add a tiny lower eyelid stitch under each eye.
  • Do not pull the stitches too tightly, or the eyes will sink too deeply.
  • Pin the muzzle before sewing so it sits centered between the eyes and lower face.

Final Assembly and Facial Detailing

Check the head angle before making the final stitches. The puppy should face forward with the ears falling evenly on both sides. The white muzzle should be centered, softly stuffed, and smooth.

  • Shape the cheeks with your fingers after stuffing.
  • Use a long needle to gently indent the eye area if needed.
  • Sew the ears slightly behind the eye line for the same floppy look as the image.
  • Add the black nose last so it sits cleanly on top of the muzzle.
  • Secure all accessories with matching yarn or thread.

Care Notes

  • Spot clean only with a damp cloth and mild soap.
  • Do not machine wash if safety eyes, buttons, or glued flower pieces are used.
  • Let the toy air dry flat, away from direct sunlight.
  • Gently reshape the beret, ears, and basket while damp.

Quick Checklist Before You Finish

  • Both eyes are even and secure.
  • The muzzle is centered and lightly stuffed.
  • The ears hang symmetrically and reach below the shoulders.
  • The overalls cover the body and legs neatly.
  • The striped shirt sleeves show under the overall straps.
  • The beret sits tilted with the pom-pom firmly attached.
  • The sandals show white toes and small daisy details.
  • The basket and pouch have visible floral decorations.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines

Store the puppy in a dry place with good airflow. Keep it away from strong sunlight because blue and brown yarns may fade over time.

For long-term display, support the basket and pouch so the straps do not stretch. If dust collects on the flowers, use a soft dry brush and clean gently from the center outward.

  • Refresh the pom-pom by rolling it softly between your palms.
  • Do not pull loose flower stitches; weave them back with a tapestry needle.
  • Keep the toy away from pets and very young children if small parts are attached.
  • Wrap in acid-free tissue paper if storing for a long period.
