This detailed woodland crochet diorama features a cozy hollow tree stump house with a fox family inside, a curved branch swing, a rope ladder, glowing fairy-light details, tiny mushrooms, flowers, mossy grass, lily pads, a winding blue stream, and a small arched bridge. The finished piece is designed as a soft decorative scene with many small handmade accessories arranged around a raised oval base.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Important Construction Notes
The diorama is built in layers. First make the raised oval ground base, then add the blue winding stream, bridge, tree stump house, branch, swing, and ladder. The fox family is made separately and sewn into the hollow room after the interior rug and small accessories are attached.
Work amigurumi pieces in continuous rounds unless the instructions say to join. Use a stitch marker at the first stitch of every round. Stuff firmly, but do not overstuff small parts because the foxes should sit naturally inside the stump.
For the tree stump house, the wall is a curved panel instead of a closed tube. This creates the open front shown in the image. The outside is dark bark brown, while the inside is a warmer tan-brown wall.
Raised Oval Grass Base
Use moss green yarn and a 2.75 mm hook. This piece forms the thick oval island that supports the entire woodland scene.

Cut an oval piece of plastic canvas slightly smaller than the base. Place it inside, add a thin layer of stuffing around the edge, and sew a flat green oval or felt piece underneath. The base should look like a thick mossy platform.
Grass Texture Around the Base
- With light green yarn, join anywhere on the top surface.
- Make random surface stitches: ch 4, sl st into the next open space, ch 3, sl st, ch 5, sl st.
- Repeat in small clusters around the stump, stream, mushrooms, and bridge.
- Use darker green yarn for moss clumps by making ch 6, sl st back down the chain, then sl st to the base.
Winding Blue Stream
The stream curves around the front of the stump and widens into small ponds on the left and right, just like the image. Make three water appliques and sew them onto the green base.

Place the panels wrong sides together. Insert thin plastic canvas between them if you want a very firm wall. Sew around all edges with dark brown yarn. The shaped top should look uneven and organic, like the cut edge of a hollow stump.
Bark Ridges
- With medium brown yarn, surface sl st 9 vertical bark lines on the outer wall.
- Make each bark line slightly wavy by moving left or right every 5 to 7 stitches.
- Add 5 short light brown lines near the top edge to suggest wood grain.

Shaping the Stump House
- Pin the wall around the floor in a wide U-shape.
- Leave about 3.5 in open at the front so the fox family is visible.
- Sew the bottom edge of the wall firmly to the floor.
- Sew the back curve first, then the left side, then the right side.
- Attach the entire stump house to the center-back of the green base.
Lower Front Stump Apron
This dark brown curved apron forms the front wall below the fox room. It is visible under the open room and behind the ladder.

Embroider each fox with a small black nose, a short mouth line, and tiny dark eyebrow stitches if desired. Add white cheek stitches beside the muzzle. Keep the expressions gentle and simple so the family looks warm and cozy inside the stump house.
Care Notes
- Spot clean only with a slightly damp cloth.
- Do not machine wash because the base, stump, branch, and bridge contain firm inserts.
- If using battery fairy lights, remove or protect the battery pack before cleaning.
- Let the diorama air dry fully before displaying again.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- The oval base is firm and flat.
- The stream is curved naturally across the front.
- The bridge is sewn securely over the water.
- The stump wall stands upright and keeps the front open.
- The branch is reinforced and angled upward.
- The swing hangs evenly from two cream ropes.
- The ladder touches both the stump and the ground.
- All three foxes are visible inside the room.
- Mushrooms, flowers, moss, lantern, and fairy lights are attached neatly.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Display the fox family tree stump house away from direct sunlight to protect the orange fox yarn, green moss, and blue stream from fading. Keep it away from moisture, candles, and high heat. Store it in a clear box or on a dust-free shelf when not in use.
To refresh the shape, gently press the base flat with your hands and adjust the branch, swing, ladder, and foxes. Use a soft brush to remove dust from flowers, mushrooms, and bark ridges. Avoid pulling on the fairy light garland or small vines.
