Gauge and Texture
Work tightly enough that no stuffing shows through the stitches. The photographed style has firm, even stitches with a smooth amigurumi texture. For the best shape, use a hook smaller than the yarn label suggests and stuff the head, muzzle, body, legs, and arms gradually.
The head should be slightly larger than the body, the muzzle should sit forward and low on the face, and the dress should flare gently over the hips. The arms hang at the sides, the legs are long and slim, and the sandals wrap around the front of the feet.
Important Construction Notes
- Work the cow in continuous rounds unless a section says otherwise.
- Use a stitch marker at the beginning of every round.
- Stuff firmly, but do not overstuff flat pieces such as ears, straps, flowers, or the purse flap.
- The right ear is black on the outside, matching the photo. The left ear is white on the outside.
- The inner ears are tan beige, slightly smaller than the outer ears.
- The dress is made separately and pulled onto the body before the head is attached.
- All small appliques are sewn on after the main doll is assembled.
Main Head
Use white yarn. The cow has a rounded head with a wide face and a slightly tapered lower section where the neck joins. The muzzle will be sewn over the front later, so keep the front of the head smooth and evenly stuffed.

Insert safety eyes between Rnds 16 and 17, about 13 stitches apart. Position them slightly above the top of the muzzle area. Stuff the head firmly, shaping it into a rounded oval. FO with a long tail if sewing directly to the body.
Large Beige Muzzle
Use beige yarn. The muzzle is wide, raised, and oval. It covers the lower center of the face and gives the cow the soft rounded nose seen in the image. Work around a foundation chain to create an oval.

FO with a long tail. Stuff the muzzle lightly at first. Pin it to the head from Rnd 15 down to Rnd 25, centered between the eyes. Add more stuffing before closing the final seam so the muzzle has a soft puffed shape.
Nostrils and Mouth
- Use brown embroidery yarn for two small nostrils.
- Place each nostril on the lower half of the muzzle, about 8 stitches apart.
- Make each nostril with 3 short horizontal stitches over the same spot.
- Use beige or light brown yarn to make a tiny curved mouth under the center of the muzzle.
Eyes and Facial Detailing
The eyes in the image are glossy and sweet, with white highlights and small lashes. If you use safety eyes, add the highlights with thread. If making the doll for a young child, embroider the eyes completely instead of using plastic parts.
- With white thread, stitch one small highlight on the upper outer side of each black eye.
- With black embroidery thread, add 2 tiny eyelashes beside each eye.
- Use a single strand of pink or light beige yarn to add soft cheek blush beside the muzzle.
- Keep all face stitches small so the expression remains gentle.
Outer Ears
Make one white outer ear and one black outer ear. The ears are large, rounded ovals. The white ear sits on the cow’s left side, and the black ear sits on the cow’s right side. Do not overstuff the ears.

Care Notes
Spot clean the doll with cool water and mild soap. Do not soak the doll if you used buttons, safety eyes, or weighted pellets. Press gently with a towel and allow it to air dry completely before storing or displaying.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- The muzzle is centered and softly raised.
- The ears are placed evenly, with the black ear on the cow’s right side.
- The horns curve upward and outward.
- The mint dress flares slightly and has a yellow scalloped hem.
- The dress has two straps, two buttons, two sunflower appliques, and one yellow side pocket.
- The brown bag crosses the body diagonally and includes the red ladybug.
- The sandals have mint straps and tiny bee decorations.
- The straw hat, watering can, and flower pot are finished as matching accessories.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Keep the cow away from strong sunlight for long periods, because bright yellow, mint, and pink yarn can fade over time. Store the doll upright or flat in a clean cotton bag. Avoid crushing the horns, ears, flower crown, and purse flap.
For dust removal, use a soft brush and light strokes. For small stains, dab gently instead of rubbing. Let every piece dry naturally. Do not use a dryer, iron, bleach, or harsh cleaning spray on the finished crochet doll.
