Crochet Tutorial: Bunny Blueberry Market Stand – Free Crochet Pattern.

Crochet Tutorial: Bunny Blueberry Market Stand – Free Crochet Pattern.

This crochet scene features a sweet bunny blueberry market on a soft green garden mat. The design includes three white bunnies, a blue-and-cream striped market canopy, a sturdy market counter, blueberry baskets, leafy bushes, a picket fence, stepping stones, jars, paper bags, a price sign, a scale, a tiny bicycle, and little floral details.

Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Finished Size

  • Garden base: about 12 in wide x 10 in deep.
  • Market stand: about 5.5 in wide x 3 in deep x 5.5 in tall including canopy.
  • Standing bunny: about 4 in tall including ears.
  • Sitting bunny: about 3.5 in tall including ears.
  • Blueberry bushes: about 3.5 to 4 in tall.

Skill Level

This pattern is best for confident beginners and intermediate crocheters. Most pieces use single crochet in continuous rounds. The small accessories require patience, firm stuffing, clean sewing, and careful placement to match the detailed market scene in the photo.

Materials

  • Sport or DK cotton yarn in white, cream, dusty blue, dark blue, light blue, sage green, dark green, gray, tan, brown, black, pink, yellow, and red.
  • 2.25 mm crochet hook for amigurumi pieces.
  • 3.00 mm crochet hook for the garden base and canopy panels.
  • Fiberfill stuffing.
  • Plastic canvas or firm cardboard for the market counter, canopy insert, and base support.
  • 6 mm black safety eyes or embroidered eyes.
  • Yarn needle and sewing pins.
  • Stitch markers.
  • Small amount of craft wire for bicycle handlebar and canopy stability, optional.
  • Embroidery thread in black, pink, and navy.

Abbreviations

  • MR: magic ring
  • ch: chain
  • sl st: slip stitch
  • sc: single crochet
  • hdc: half double crochet
  • dc: double crochet
  • inc: 2 sc in the same stitch
  • dec: invisible single crochet decrease
  • BLO: back loop only
  • FLO: front loop only
  • st: stitch
  • rnd: round
  • FO: fasten off

Gauge Notes

For the amigurumi pieces, work tightly enough that stuffing does not show. With DK cotton and a 2.25 mm hook, 8 sc and 8 rounds should measure about 1 inch. For the base and canopy, use a 3.00 mm hook to create a slightly softer fabric with visible crochet texture.

The photo shows a neat, firm miniature scene with compact stitches. Keep all stuffed pieces dense but not stretched. The bunnies should stay rounded, the market stand should remain square, and the canopy should curve slightly over the front edge like a soft striped awning.

General Construction Notes

  • Work most small pieces in continuous rounds unless stated otherwise.
  • Use a stitch marker at the first stitch of each round.
  • Stuff the bunnies, baskets, bushes, and tree tops firmly but evenly.
  • Flatten small leaves before sewing so they sit like layered foliage.
  • Use invisible joining and matching yarn tails whenever possible.
  • Insert plastic canvas inside the counter and canopy for the boxy shape shown in the image.

Garden Base Mat

The base is a rounded rectangle in sage green. It supports the whole blueberry market scene and should be firm enough to hold the stand, bunnies, bushes, fence, bicycle, and stone path without curling upward.

  8. Sew the white fence to the front left corner.
  9. Attach stepping stones in the center path.
  10. Sew the standing bunny near the fence with its basket facing the stand.
  11. Sew the sitting bunny to the front right corner holding the tart.
  12. Sew the bicycle near the center-right front of the counter.

Final Assembly and Facial Detailing

Use black embroidery thread to make tiny eyelashes or eye highlights if desired. Embroider each bunny nose with two short pink stitches and add a small vertical mouth line below. Keep the faces simple and sweet, matching the soft expression in the image.

Check that all bunnies face inward toward the market scene. The left bunny should look like a customer, the middle bunny should look like the seller, and the right bunny should look like it is enjoying a blueberry treat.

  • Sew ears firmly so they stand upright.
  • Keep the seller bunny partly hidden behind the counter.
  • Angle the right bunny slightly toward the bicycle and stand.
  • Place loose blueberries only where they will not roll away.
  • Use small hidden stitches to secure every accessory.

Care Notes

This project is a decorative crochet display, not a toy for small children. Many parts are tiny and sewn on separately. If making it for a child, replace safety eyes with embroidery and skip wire or removable inserts.

  • Spot clean only with cool water and mild soap.
  • Do not machine wash because the counter, canopy, and signs need to stay shaped.
  • Let the piece air dry flat after cleaning.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight to protect the blue and green colors.

Quick Checklist Before You Finish

  • The garden base lies flat with a raised rounded border.
  • The counter is square, firm, and centered on the base.
  • The canopy has alternating dusty blue and cream stripes.
  • The canopy front edge has soft scallops.
  • All three bunnies have upright ears, black eyes, and pink noses.
  • There are full blueberry bushes on both sides of the stand.
  • The fence, flowers, stones, bicycle, baskets, jars, scale, and signs are attached securely.
  • The front sign clearly reads Blueberry Market.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines

Dust the finished scene with a soft makeup brush or clean paintbrush. Start at the canopy and work downward so dust does not settle into the small accessories. Avoid pulling on the blueberries, leaves, ears, or basket handles.

For storage, place the market scene in a roomy box with tissue paper around the canopy and bunnies. Do not press the roof flat. If the canopy bends, reshape it gently with your fingers and let it rest upright overnight.

To refresh the garden base, lightly steam from a distance without touching the yarn directly. Use only a small amount of steam and protect any cardboard inserts. Allow the whole display to dry completely before covering or storing.
