Pattern Overview
This pattern uses US crochet terms and is worked mostly in continuous rounds. The finished doll is designed as a seated garden peacock character with a large round head, slim neck, small body, rounded arms, dangling feet, and a wide fan tail placed behind the body.
The design is detailed, but each piece is made from simple shapes. You will crochet spheres, ovals, flat circles, scalloped lace, straps, flowers, sandals, and layered feather pieces. Take your time with assembly, because the charm of this doll comes from neat placement.
- Finished size: about 10.5 to 12 inches tall when seated, depending on yarn tension.
- Skill level: confident beginner to intermediate.
- Construction: amigurumi pieces, sewn assembly, embroidered face, layered tail feathers.
- Main look: turquoise peacock doll with rainbow tail, cream dress, teal trim, yellow sandals, floral accents, and garden hat.

Gauge and Working Notes
For a firm amigurumi fabric, use a hook smaller than the yarn label suggests. A good gauge is about 6 single crochet stitches and 6 rounds per inch. The stitches should be tight enough that stuffing does not show through.
Work the head, body, neck, limbs, beak, crest, and wings in continuous rounds. Use a stitch marker at the first stitch of every round. Stuff the head firmly, the neck tightly, the body medium-firm, and the arms and wings lightly.
The peacock tail is made from separate flat feather ovals. Each feather is sewn in a fan shape behind the body. For the same full look as the picture, make nine large feathers and six smaller inner feathers, then layer them by color.

Make 3 mini flowers and 2 mini leaves for the dress. Sew them to the front right side of the cream dress and near the purse, keeping the arrangement small and sweet.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
- Sew the stuffed head securely to the top of the firm neck. Use turquoise yarn and stitch around the join twice.
- Attach the beak first, then place the eyes evenly on each side of the beak.
- Sew the cheeks below the eyes and embroider lashes, eyebrows, and eye highlights.
- Attach the three blue crest stems to the top of the head. Sew the center stem straight and the side stems slightly outward.
- Sew the daisy flower near the left side of the crest, angled toward the front.
- Place the cream bodice and lace skirt neatly on the body. Sew the top edge to the body if it shifts.
- Attach the arms under the shoulder straps and place the side wings behind the arms.
- Sew the legs to the lower body and attach the yellow feet. Fit the sandals over the feet.
- Attach the floral purse across the front of the dress with the strap crossing diagonally.
- Sew the completed rainbow tail fan to the back of the body. Make sure the fan is centered and visible from the front.
- Place the garden hat beside the doll or use it as a removable accessory.
Check the face from the front before tying off all embroidery ends. The beak should sit centered, the eyes should look upward and bright, and the cheeks should be balanced. Small changes in eye placement can change the entire expression.
Care Notes
- Spot clean the doll with cool water and mild soap.
- Do not soak if the tail contains wire or if the facial details are embroidered with delicate thread.
- Reshape the tail and hat while damp if needed.
- Let the doll air dry completely before storing.

- Daisy flower is attached near the crest.
- Cream dress fits smoothly with teal straps and scalloped hem.

- Yellow sandals are sewn securely to the feet.
- Rainbow tail is full, centered, and fanned behind the doll.
- Purse, hat, flowers, and butterflies are added for the garden look.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Keep the doll away from direct sunlight for long periods, because bright teal, yellow, red, and purple yarn can fade over time. Store the doll upright or lying flat with the tail supported so the feather fan does not bend.
For dust removal, use a soft brush or a lint roller with light pressure. If a stitch becomes loose, thread the yarn tail onto a needle and secure it inside the nearest seam. Avoid pulling the tail feathers sharply, as the layered fan depends on careful sewn placement.
If the hat brim curls, lightly mist it with water, flatten it with your fingers, and let it dry on a clean towel. Do the same for the lace skirt hem if the teal scallops need reshaping after handling.
