Pattern Overview
This pattern is written in US English knitting terms and is built to recreate the pictured bull terrier amigurumi as closely as possible. The dog has a tall oval head with a strong white center muzzle, gray side patches, a small black nose, slim white arms, straight legs, rounded paws, a soft A-line floral dress, a brimmed garden hat, potted flowers, a bee on the head, daisies near one ear, sandals, and a matching blue purse.
The doll is knitted mostly in the round on double-pointed needles or magic loop. Smaller details are worked flat or in tiny rounds, then sewn on. The finished piece is about 11 in / 28 cm tall when made with DK weight yarn and 2.75 mm needles. Your final size may vary, but the proportions below keep the same soft garden-table look.
Skill Level
- Level: Confident beginner to intermediate toy knitter.
- Main skills used: Knit, purl, increase, decrease, knitting in the round, short simple color changes, mattress stitch, duplicate stitch, embroidery, and seaming tiny accessories.
- Construction style: Separate knitted body parts are stuffed, shaped, and sewn together. The dress, sandals, purse, hat, flowers, bee, and plant pots are made separately.
Finished Measurements
- Total height: About 11 in / 28 cm from feet to ear tips.
- Head: About 3.5 in / 9 cm tall and 3 in / 7.5 cm wide.
- Body under dress: About 3.25 in / 8 cm tall.
- Dress length: About 3.5 in / 9 cm from neckline to hem.
- Arm length: About 3.25 in / 8 cm.
- Leg length: About 3.5 in / 9 cm including paw.
- Purse: About 1.5 in / 4 cm wide.

- Pair of 9 mm blue safety eyes or blue eyes with black pupils.
- Fiberfill stuffing.
- Tapestry needle.
- Locking stitch markers.

Gauge
Gauge for the toy body: 7 stitches and 10 rounds = 1 in / 2.5 cm in stockinette worked in the round with DK yarn and 2.75 mm needles. The fabric should be firm enough that stuffing does not show through.
Gauge for tiny accessories: 8 stitches and 11 rows = 1 in / 2.5 cm with 2.25 mm needles. Gauge is less important for flowers and the bee, but small needles help the details stay crisp.

Important Color Placement Notes
The pictured dog has a bull terrier-style face with a tall white blaze running down the center of the head and muzzle. The gray areas sit on both sides of the face, wider near the eyes and ears. The white area should stay centered from forehead to nose.
For the easiest result, knit the head mostly in white, then knit and sew gray side patches over the head. This method gives cleaner shaping than complicated stranded colorwork. The gray patches should curve around the eyes and stop before the black nose.
- White center: Forehead, muzzle, lower face, body, arms, legs, and paws.
- Gray patches: Both sides of head, from upper cheek to ear base.
- Pink: Inner ears, small flowers, and tulip.
- Blue: Dress background, purse, strap, and sandals.
- Yellow: Dress stripe, flowers, bee body, daffodil, and tiny motifs.

Nose and Mouth

- When attaching arms, sew through the body and dress together at those side points.

- Stuff very lightly and sew to the back body just above the lower dress hem.
Assembly Order
Careful assembly is what makes this doll match the image. Take time to pin every piece before sewing. The head should be large and centered, the dress should flare evenly, and the accessories should sit naturally around the doll.
- Sew the gray face patches to the head first. Keep the white center blaze clean and visible.
- Install or secure the blue safety eyes if you have not already done so.
- Embroider the black nose and mouth on the lower muzzle.
- Sew the pink inner ears to the gray outer ears.
- Sew the ears to the top sides of the head, angled outward and slightly forward.
- Place the dress over the body before attaching arms and head.
- Sew the legs to the lower body so they hang straight down beneath the dress.
- Sew the head to the body with a strong seam around the neck. The head should face forward.
- Sew the arms to the side body through the dress, with the hands resting near the dress hem.
- Add the sandals to the feet, making sure the toe lines remain visible.
- Place the purse strap over the left shoulder and across the front to the right hip.
- Sew the purse to the lower right front of the dress.
- Sew the bee to the purse front and the second bee to the top of the head.
- Sew the daisy cluster beside the ear, near the head bee.
- Make the hat and flower pots as separate display accessories.
Facial Placement Guide
- Eyes: Place between Rnds 22 and 23 of the head, about 13 sts apart.
- Nose: Center on the lower muzzle, about 5 sts wide and 4 rows tall.
- Mouth: One vertical line below the nose, then two tiny curved side stitches.
- Gray patches: Sew around the sides of the face and around the eyes, not over the white muzzle center.
- Ears: Sew between the top side and crown area, with pink panels facing forward.
How to Shape the Doll Like the Photo
The head should be the largest visual feature. The body is smaller and softened by the dress. The arms are smooth and rounded, hanging beside the body. The legs are straight and visible under the dress, while the feet are wide enough to show the sandals and toe embroidery.
When stuffing, add firm stuffing to the head, medium stuffing to the body, and lighter stuffing to the arms. The feet need firm stuffing at the front so the toe lines sit clearly. Do not overstuff the dress or purse. They should look soft, not bulky.
- Pin the dress hem so it flares evenly before sewing the neckline.
- Use small stitches when attaching the purse strap so it stays flat against the dress.
- Angle the ears slightly outward for a lively expression.
- Place the head bee off-center, close to the ear and daisy cluster.
- Keep the potted flowers separate for a garden display arrangement.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
After all pieces are attached, review the face first. Add a few extra black stitches to the nose if it looks too small. Adjust the gray patches with tiny securing stitches if their edges lift. The bull terrier expression should look gentle, with the white muzzle centered and the blue eyes bright.
Steam blocking is not required, but you can lightly smooth the dress with your fingers. Do not press the stuffed toy with an iron. If the hem curls, sew a few tiny hidden stitches from the inner hem to the body to hold the A-line shape.
- Check that the head sits straight above the dress neckline.
- Check that both ears stand at the same height.
- Check that the sandals are even and the toe lines face forward.
- Check that the purse hangs diagonally across the front.
- Check that the flowers and bee decorations are securely sewn.
Care Notes
Spot clean the knitted doll gently with cool water and mild soap. Avoid soaking if you used safety eyes, pipe cleaners, or firm accessories. Blot with a towel and let the doll air dry completely in a shaded place.
- Do not machine wash if the toy has small sewn-on flowers or bees.
- Do not tumble dry.
- Keep away from pets that may chew small accessories.
- For children under 3, embroider the eyes instead of using safety eyes.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Store the finished bull terrier amigurumi away from direct sunlight so the pastel colors stay soft and fresh. If dust gathers on the dress or flowers, use a clean soft brush and work lightly over the surface.
For long-term display, keep the doll upright with the legs relaxed and the dress hem spread evenly. Place the hat and flower pots nearby rather than on top of the doll, so the head decorations keep their shape.
- Use a breathable cotton bag for storage.
- Avoid plastic bags for long periods, because trapped moisture can affect the stuffing.
- Refresh flattened flowers by gently lifting each petal with a tapestry needle.
- Check sewn accessories occasionally and reinforce loose stitches right away.
