This knitted Scottish Fold cat has a round gray tabby head, folded ears, bright yellow eyes, a pink embroidered nose, and soft striped fur. The outfit includes green-and-cream striped garden overalls with tiny flower embroidery, button straps, sandals, a small crossbody carrot pouch, a garden backpack, a sunflower stem, a yellow sun hat with a blue ribbon, and a miniature watering can.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Finished Size
The finished cat measures about 11.5 inches tall from the bottom of the sandals to the top of the folded ears when knitted with DK yarn and 2.75 mm needles. The head is intentionally large and rounded, the body is short and soft, and the legs are slightly chunky to match the plush garden-doll look in the image.
- Cat height: about 11.5 inches
- Head width: about 5.25 inches across the cheeks
- Body height: about 4.25 inches before the legs
- Overalls: green and cream horizontal stripes
- Accessories: hat, sunflower, watering can, backpack, carrot pouch, sandals
Skill Level
This pattern is suitable for confident beginners who can knit in the round, increase, decrease, pick up stitches, and sew small pieces together neatly. The shaping is simple, but the final look depends on careful stuffing, embroidery, and accurate placement of the face and accessories.

Pattern Notes
The cat is knitted mostly in the round from separate pieces, then stuffed and sewn together. The head is shaped wide and rounded with extra cheek fullness. The ears are small folded half-moon pieces sewn low on the upper sides of the head, creating the Scottish Fold expression.
The overalls are worked separately and fitted over the body before the arms are attached. This makes the striped garment look clean, fitted, and visible across the chest. The green straps cross over the shoulders and are finished with small buttons, just like the image.
The gray tabby look is created with a marled gray base plus duplicate stitch and embroidery in dark charcoal. The forehead stripes point downward from the top center of the head. The cheeks and body have softer side markings, while the tail has stronger dark bands.

Main Cat Head
Use marled light gray yarn and 2.75 mm needles. Work in the round. Stuff the head firmly but gently as you knit. The shape should be wide, round, and slightly flattened at the lower face so the embroidered muzzle sits naturally.

Head Shaping
After stuffing, use a long strand of gray yarn to sculpt the face. Insert the needle from the bottom of the head to the inner corner of the right eye position, then back down. Repeat on the left side. Pull gently to create shallow eye sockets. Do not pull too tightly, because the expression should remain soft and sweet.
- Eye centers sit about 17 rounds down from the top of the head.
- Space the eyes about 13 stitches apart.
- The nose sits centered, about 5 rounds below the inner eye line.
- The mouth is embroidered directly below the nose with two short curved lines.
Scottish Fold Ears
The ears are small rounded pieces folded downward and sewn to the upper sides of the head. They should not stand upright. The folded shape is essential because it gives the cat the Scottish Fold look from the image.
Make 2 Ears

- Row 11: p all sts.
- Row 12: k2, ssk, k4, k2tog, k2. You now have 10 sts.
- BO all sts, leaving a long sewing tail.
Fold each ear downward so the top edge curves toward the front. Sew the lower edge to the head at a shallow diagonal angle, starting about 8 rounds below the crown and 12 stitches away from the center forehead. Tack the folded tip lightly so it stays rounded and low.
Body
The body is shorter than the head and slightly pear-shaped. It should be firm enough to hold the overalls, but not stiff. Use marled gray for the cat body, even though most of it will be covered by the green striped outfit.
- Using marled gray yarn, CO 12 sts and join in the round.

Sew the body to the underside of the head after the overalls are fitted. The neck should be short, with the head sitting slightly forward. This gives the cat the cute doll-like posture seen in the picture.
Legs
The legs are visible below the short overalls. They are gray with darker tabby shading and rounded feet that fit into beige sandals. Make both legs the same size and stuff them firmly at the foot, then slightly softer near the upper leg.
Make 2 Legs
- Using marled gray yarn, CO 10 sts and join in the round.
- Rnd 1: k all sts.
- Rnd 2: kfb in every st. You now have 20 sts.

- Stuff the foot and leg.
- Rnd 25: k1, k2tog around, ending k2. You now have 12 sts.
- Cut yarn, thread through remaining sts, pull closed, and secure.
Toe Embroidery
Use dark charcoal yarn to embroider three toe lines on the front of each foot. Each toe line should begin near the top of the foot and curve downward slightly. Keep the stitches shallow so the toes look soft, not deeply divided.
Arms
The arms are long, narrow, and rounded at the paws. They hang naturally along the sides of the striped overalls. The upper arms attach just below the shoulder straps so they look like part of the dressed toy.
Make 2 Arms
- Using marled gray yarn, CO 8 sts and join in the round.
- Rnd 1: k all sts.
- Rnd 2: kfb in every st. You now have 16 sts.
- Rnds 3-7: k all sts.
- Rnd 8: k2, k2tog around. You now have 12 sts.
- Rnds 9-25: k all sts.
- Stuff the paw firmly and the arm lightly.
- Rnd 26: k2tog around. You now have 6 sts.
- Cut yarn, thread through remaining sts, pull closed, and secure.
Add two or three small charcoal duplicate-stitch markings on each arm. Place them unevenly, because the image has natural tabby shading rather than perfect stripes. Sew the arms to the body after the overalls are already in place.
Tail
The tail is curved and striped. It extends from behind the right side of the body and curves upward at the end. Use gray as the base and add dark charcoal bands after knitting.
- Using marled gray yarn, CO 12 sts and join in the round.
- Rnds 1-5: k all sts.
- Rnd 6: change to charcoal gray and k all sts.
- Rnd 7: continue charcoal and k all sts.

- Rnd 15: continue charcoal and k all sts.
- Rnd 16: change back to marled gray and k all sts.
- Rnds 17-28: repeat the same stripe rhythm, placing 2-round charcoal bands every 6 rounds.
- Stuff lightly as you go.
- Rnd 29: k2tog around. You now have 6 sts.
- Cut yarn, thread through remaining sts, and close.
To curve the tail, thread a strand of gray yarn through the inner curve and pull gently. Secure the shaping at the base. Sew the base to the back right side of the body, angled outward and slightly upward.
Tabby Stripe Detailing
The cat has dark gray tabby marks on the forehead, cheeks, arms, legs, and tail. Use charcoal yarn and duplicate stitch for bold stripes. Use single embroidery stitches for thinner cheek lines and soft fur shadows.
Forehead Stripes
- Place one central dark stripe from the top center of the head down 8 rounds.
- Place two shorter stripes on each side, angled toward the eyes.
- Each side stripe should be 5 to 7 stitches long.
- Keep the stripes tapered by making the first and last stitches shorter.
Cheek and Side Face Marks
- Add two short charcoal lines beside each eye.
- Add three softer curved lines on each lower cheek.
- Do not cover the nose area; keep the muzzle clean for embroidery.
- Use thin stitches near the mouth so the expression remains gentle.

Eyes
The eyes are large, yellow, oval, and slightly serious. They should be placed low on the round face, with black vertical pupils and dark outlines. Embroidered eyes create the closest handmade look to the image.
Make 2 Embroidered Eye Patches
- Using yellow yarn and 2.5 mm needles, CO 8 sts.
- Row 1: p all sts.
- Row 2: kfb, k6, kfb. You now have 10 sts.
- Row 3: p all sts.
- Row 4: kfb, k8, kfb. You now have 12 sts.

- Row 8: ssk, k8, k2tog. You now have 10 sts.
- Row 9: p all sts.
- Row 10: ssk, k6, k2tog. You now have 8 sts.
- BO, leaving a long yellow tail.
Sew each yellow oval to the face. Shape the ovals vertically by pulling the top and bottom points slightly. Use black embroidery thread to outline each eye. Add a vertical black pupil in the center, then place a tiny white stitch on one side for a bright highlight.
Nose, Mouth, and Whiskers
The nose is small, pink, and triangular. It sits between the eyes and above the short black mouth. The whiskers are delicate and should not overpower the face.
- Use pink yarn to embroider a small triangle over 4 stitches wide and 3 rounds tall.
- Satin stitch the triangle until the nose looks raised and smooth.
- Use black thread to stitch one short vertical line down from the nose.
- Add two tiny curved mouth lines forming a soft cat smile.
- Add three whisker dots on each side using tiny black knots.
- Add two short whisker lines on each cheek, angled outward.
Green and Cream Striped Garden Overalls
The overalls are the main garment. They have narrow cream and green horizontal stripes, a bib front, short legs, shoulder straps, button details, and little embroidered flowers across the chest and lower leg. Work the garment separately, then dress the body before final assembly.
Overall Shorts Base
- Using garden green yarn, CO 48 sts and join in the round.

- Sew each strap to the upper back waist.
- Bring straps over the shoulders and sew to the top corners of the bib.

📌Thank you for reading the article
The straps should sit slightly outward, not close to the neck. This creates the sweet garden-overall look seen in the image and leaves space for the cat’s large round head.
Flower Embroidery on Overalls
The overalls have tiny floral details on the chest and lower leg. Use yellow, white, green, and a small touch of orange. Keep each flower small so the stripes remain visible.
- Chest daisies: stitch three tiny flowers across the bib front.
- Flower centers: use one yellow knot for each center.
- Petals: use five short white straight stitches around each center.
- Stems: use green thread, 3 to 5 stitches tall.
- Lower leg flowers: add one small yellow and orange flower near the right cuff.
Sandals
The sandals are beige with brown soles and small button details. They sit over the gray paws but leave the front toes visible. Make each sandal slightly wider than the foot so it looks soft and handmade.

Attaching the Clothing and Accessories
Dress the body in the overalls before sewing the body to the head. Pull the short legs of the overalls over the knitted legs. Make sure the green ribbed cuffs sit just above the gray lower legs. Sew the overalls lightly to the body at the waist and underarms to keep them from shifting.
- Place the overalls on the body.
- Position the bib at the front center.
- Bring the straps over the shoulders.
- Sew the strap ends to the bib corners.
- Add the front buttons securely.
- Place the crossbody pouch diagonally over the front.
- Sew the pouch lightly to the right hip area.
- Attach arms after the pouch strap is positioned.
The backpack may be displayed beside the doll or sewn to the back. If sewing it to the cat, use only a few loose stitches so it remains slightly dimensional. The sun hat should remain removable unless this doll is intended only for display.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
Sew the head to the body using a strong gray yarn tail. Place the head slightly forward, not perfectly centered backward. Use small stitches around the neck opening and pass around the join twice for strength.
- Sew the legs to the lower body, spaced about 1 inch apart.
- Sew the arms to the upper sides, just below the shoulder straps.
- Sew the tail to the back right side and curve it outward.
- Attach folded ears low on the upper sides of the head.
- Check that both eyes are level before final stitching.
- Embroider the nose after the eyes are fully placed.
- Add whisker dots and mouth last.
Finish by adding forehead stripes, cheek stripes, and small body markings. Place the sandals over the feet and secure each with hidden stitches at the heel. Arrange the hat, backpack, sunflower, and watering can around the cat to match the garden display style.
Care Notes
This knitted cat is best used as a decorative handmade toy. Because it includes small buttons and delicate accessories, it is not recommended for children under three years old. For a child-safe version, replace all buttons with embroidered circles and secure every accessory permanently.
- Spot clean only with cool water and mild soap.
- Do not machine wash if the doll includes wooden buttons or ribbon.
- Allow the toy to air dry flat on a towel.
- Do not wring or twist the knitted pieces.
- Reshape the hat brim and ears while damp if needed.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- The head is round, wide, and larger than the body.
- The ears are folded downward and sewn low on the sides.
- The eyes are yellow, oval, and outlined in black.
- The nose is small, pink, and centered.
- The overalls have green and cream horizontal stripes.
- The shoulder straps have small buttons on the bib.
- The flower embroidery is placed on the bib and lower leg.
- The pouch crosses diagonally across the front.
- The sandals show the gray toes at the front.
- The tail curves outward and has charcoal bands.
- The sunflower, hat, backpack, and watering can are complete.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Store the finished cat away from direct sunlight to prevent fading, especially on the yellow hat, sunflower, and eyes. Keep the doll in a dry area with good airflow. If it is displayed on a shelf, gently dust it with a soft brush every few weeks.
To preserve the shape, avoid compressing the head or folded ears. If the overalls flatten over time, lightly fluff the body with your fingers and smooth the straps back into place. Keep the small watering can, sunflower, and backpack together in a fabric pouch when not displayed.
For long-term storage, wrap the doll in acid-free tissue or a clean cotton cloth. Do not store it in a sealed plastic bag for long periods, because trapped moisture can affect the yarn and stuffing. Check the buttons and embroidered details occasionally and reinforce any loose stitches.
