This playful knit doll features a long beige sloth body, raised round eyes, a large black nose, tiny front teeth, a stitched smiling mouth, rust-and-cream striped overalls, long arms, soft clawed feet, a mustard beanie with a blue stripe, a small red mushroom, a round crossbody flower bag, two tiny cups, and a small knit book accessory.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Pattern Overview
This pattern is written in US English knitting terms. The doll is worked mostly in the round for a smooth amigurumi-style knit finish. Small accessories are worked flat or in the round, then sewn on carefully. Use firm stuffing, tight tension, and small needles to keep the fabric dense.
- Finished doll size: About 11.5 inches tall from feet to mushroom tip.
- Skill level: Confident beginner to intermediate.
- Main texture: Stockinette stitch in the round.
- Clothing texture: Stockinette stripes with ribbed cuffs and bib edge.
- Construction: Separate knitted pieces sewn together after stuffing.
Materials
- Worsted weight yarn in oatmeal beige for body, head, arms, feet, and eye bases.
- Worsted weight yarn in cream for overall stripes, teeth, eyes, and cup rims.
- Worsted weight yarn in rust orange for striped overalls, cuffs, straps, and shoe bands.
- Worsted weight yarn in black for nose and pupils.
- Worsted weight yarn in mustard yellow for beanie and round bag.
- Small amount of blue yarn for beanie stripe and bag flower accent.
- Small amount of red yarn for mushroom cap and flower center.
- Small amount of olive green yarn for mushroom stem and flower leaves.
- Small amount of brown yarn for coffee inside cups and book cover detail.
- US size 2 double-pointed needles or circular needles for magic loop.
- US size 1 needles for tight accessories.
- Polyester fiberfill stuffing.
- Tapestry needle.
- Stitch markers.
- Black embroidery thread for smile, eye shine, and lashes.
- Two tiny brown buttons or embroidered button knots for ankle straps.
- Optional: pipe cleaner for mushroom stem only if the item is not for small children.
Gauge
Work tightly so stuffing does not show. In stockinette stitch with worsted weight yarn and US size 2 needles, 24 stitches and 34 rounds should measure about 4 inches. Exact gauge is less important than firm fabric, but matching tension helps the proportions stay close to the image.

Important Construction Notes
The body and long neck are shaped as one main piece. The head widens at the top into a rounded sloth face. The eyes are separate raised oval balls sewn to both sides of the upper face, giving the doll the funny wide-eyed look shown in the image.
The overalls are made as a fitted striped garment. The pants section is knitted in rust and cream stripes, then the bib and straps are added. The cuffs at the ankles are rust ribbing. The sloth’s beige toes remain visible below the straps.
The accessories are intentionally small. The mushroom is sewn slightly to the top right side of the head. The round bag crosses from the left shoulder to the right hip. The mustard beanie is separate and sits beside the doll in the image, so this pattern makes it removable.
Main Body, Long Neck, and Head
Use oatmeal beige yarn and US size 2 double-pointed needles. Work in the round. Stuff gradually as you knit. The body should be pear-shaped, wider through the belly and narrow through the long neck.

Cut yarn, leaving an 8-inch tail. Thread through the remaining 6 sts, pull closed, and weave inside the head. Shape the top of the head with your hands so it is rounded but slightly taller than wide.
Raised Eyes
Make two large raised white eye balls. They should sit high and wide on the head, slightly angled outward. Each eye is knitted separately in cream yarn, then a black pupil is sewn onto the front.

Sew the nose to the center front of the head between Rnds 78 and 84 of the head. The top of the nose should sit just below the eyes. Flatten the lower edge slightly as you sew so the nose looks oval from the front.
Small Buck Teeth
Make two tiny cream teeth. They sit directly under the smile line, centered below the nose. They should touch each other and point downward.
- Using cream yarn and US size 1 needles, CO 4 sts.
- Row 1: P all sts.
- Row 2: K all sts.
- Row 3: P all sts.
- Row 4: K2tog twice. 2 sts.

- Make a second tooth the same way.
Sew the two teeth under the center of the smile. Place the top edges side by side. Do not stuff the teeth. Let the pointed lower edges hang slightly over the upper neck.
Smile and Eyelash Embroidery
Use black embroidery thread. Start the smile at the lower left side of the nose, curve gently downward, then rise to the lower right side of the nose. Use a backstitch line that is smooth and shallow.
- Place the smile about 3 rounds below the bottom of the nose.
- Use 6 to 8 small backstitches across the face.
- Do not pull too tightly, or the face will pucker.
- Add two short lashes above each raised eye, angled outward.
Arms, Make 2
The arms are long and narrow with a slightly peach-toned paw area at the lower end. In the image, the arms hang down beside the striped overalls and curve gently outward.

- Cut yarn, close, and leave a long tail for sewing.
Arm Claw Lines
With beige embroidery yarn, sew two short vertical lines at the paw end of each arm to divide the hand into three soft claw-like sections. The lines should be subtle and match the knitted texture.
Feet and Toes, Make 2
The feet are wide at the front with three visible rounded toes. They sit below the rust cuffs and ankle straps. Each foot is worked as one base with three small toe bumps added separately.
Foot Base, Make 2

Sew three toe bumps to the front of each foot. The center toe should sit slightly lower than the two side toes. This creates the rounded clawed look visible at the bottom of the doll.
Legs, Make 2
The legs are mostly hidden inside the striped overall pants, but they give structure to the lower body. Make them short, firm, and slightly angled outward.
- Using oatmeal beige yarn, CO 14 sts and join in the round.

Optional Body Shaping
To make the doll stand or sit neatly on display, use yarn sculpting around the belly and neck. Thread a long strand of oatmeal yarn from the back lower body up through the neck and back down again. Pull gently to firm the center line.
- Do not pull so tightly that the belly collapses.
- Shape the neck straight before tying the yarn inside the body.

- Sew the mushroom to the top right side of the head.
- Place the crossbody bag from left shoulder to right hip and tack it down.
- Make the beanie, cups, and book as separate display accessories.
Placement Guide
Correct placement is what makes this doll match the image. The eyes must be large and raised, the nose must be oversized, and the smile must be simple. The overalls should sit high on the belly and cover most of the lower body.
- Eyes: Place between head Rnds 77 and 84, about 1 inch apart at the inner edges.
- Nose: Place centered between head Rnds 79 and 85.
- Smile: Place 3 rounds below the nose.
- Teeth: Sew directly under the center of the smile.
- Arms: Attach at the shoulder area beside the upper bib.
- Mushroom: Attach to the doll’s upper right head, leaning outward.
- Bag: Rest on the doll’s lower right belly.
- Beanie: Display beside the doll or place loosely over the head behind the eyes.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing should be done slowly. First, pin all facial pieces in place before sewing. View the doll from the front and from above. The eyes should look wide and silly, while the nose should dominate the center of the face.
Use small hidden stitches when attaching the eyes. Sew around each eye base twice for strength. Then sew the nose firmly so it sits like a soft oval dome. Add the smile last, because the curve depends on the exact nose placement.
When sewing the overalls, avoid stitching through the front stripes unless needed. Tack the garment at the back waist, under the arms, and inside the crotch. These hidden anchor points keep the overalls fitted without flattening the belly.
Care Notes
- Spot clean only with a damp cloth and mild soap.
- Do not machine wash if the doll has buttons, embroidery, or firm sculpting.
- Let the doll air dry flat on a towel.
- Do not twist or wring the knitted fabric.
- Keep the tiny accessories in a small fabric pouch when not displayed.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines help keep the doll looking handmade and fresh. Store it away from direct sunlight to protect the rust, mustard, and red colors. Keep the doll dry, especially around the stuffed head, nose, and eye pieces.
For dust, use a soft dry brush and move in the direction of the knitted stitches. For small stains, touch the area with a damp cloth instead of soaking the whole doll. Let every piece dry fully before storing.
If the bag strap or mushroom becomes loose, repair it with matching yarn and a tapestry needle. Do not use glue on visible knitted areas, because it can harden the fabric and change the handmade texture.
Finishing Note
Your finished knitted sloth doll should have a soft handmade shape, a tall neck, a funny raised-eyed face, striped rust overalls, visible beige feet, and miniature cozy accessories. Take time with the face and small props, because those details create the cheerful character shown in the image.
