This sweet Scottish Fold cat is knitted as a soft keepsake doll with a round gray tabby head, folded ears, bright blue eyes, rosy cheeks, striped legs, a cream woodland sweater dress, green sandals, a blue flower headband, a removable blue sunhat, a tiny basket of apples, a watering can, and a red mushroom crossbody bag. The sweater dress features foxes, an owl, leaves, grass, and small embroidered woodland details.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Pattern Overview
This pattern is written in US English knitting terms. The cat is worked mainly in the round for a smooth amigurumi-style knitted toy. The dress and accessories are knitted separately, then sewn or placed onto the finished cat. Small embroidered details are added at the end so the finished toy matches the delicate handmade look in the image.
The finished doll is designed to measure about 12 inches tall from the bottom of the sandals to the top of the head, not including the removable hat. The head is intentionally large and rounded, the body is short, and the sweater dress has a gentle A-line shape that covers the torso and upper legs.
- Skill level: Intermediate, with detailed steps suitable for a confident beginner.
- Main techniques: Knitting in the round, increases, decreases, simple cables, short shaping, seaming, duplicate stitch, embroidery, and small accessory knitting.
- Finished height: About 12 inches tall.
- Needle style: Double-pointed needles or magic loop circular needle.
- Seaming style: Mattress stitch and whipstitch with hidden joins.
Materials
- Yarn weight: Sport weight or light DK yarn.
- Main cat gray: 45 g soft heather gray.
- Light muzzle gray: 12 g pale gray or off-white gray.
- Dark tabby gray: 8 g charcoal gray for stripes.
- Dress cream: 45 g warm cream.
- Dress green: 12 g moss green for grass, leaves, sandals, and motifs.
- Fox orange: 10 g rusty orange.
- Fox white: 4 g white.
- Owl brown: 6 g warm brown.
- Bag red: 10 g mushroom red.
- Bag beige: 8 g mushroom stem beige.
- Basket brown: 12 g wicker brown.
- Hat blue: 22 g sky blue.
- Flower blue shades: Small scraps of light blue, medium blue, and green.
- Eyes: Two 12 mm blue safety eyes or embroidered blue eyes.

- Needles: US 2 or 2.75 mm needles for the cat and accessories.
- Optional smaller needles: US 1 or 2.25 mm needles for firmer accessories.
- Other tools: Tapestry needle, stitch markers, removable markers, cable needle, pins, scissors, black embroidery thread, pink embroidery thread, and two tiny tan buttons for sandal sides.
Gauge
Gauge is important because the doll needs a dense fabric that hides stuffing. Work firmly, but not so tightly that shaping becomes difficult. If stuffing shows through the fabric, go down one needle size.
- Stockinette in the round: 28 stitches and 38 rounds = 4 inches.
- Dress stockinette: 27 stitches and 36 rounds = 4 inches.
- Suggested finished head width: 4.75 inches.
- Suggested finished body width under dress: 3 inches.

Construction Notes
The cat is knitted from the bottom upward in separate pieces. The legs, body, arms, head, ears, and tail are made first. The face is shaped with stuffing and embroidery. The dress is knitted separately from the hem upward, then pulled over the body before the arms are fully secured.

The sweater dress uses a textured cream fabric with a narrow cable panel at the front and woodland motifs around the lower skirt. The foxes and owl can be worked with stranded colorwork, but duplicate stitch is easier and gives cleaner small motifs on a toy this size.
- The head is round and slightly flattened at the lower face.
- The ears are small folded Scottish Fold ears sewn low and curved forward.
- The legs are gray striped and end in cream-and-green sandals.
- The dress is cream with green grass, foxes, owl, flowers, and leaves.
- The headband is blue with small knitted flowers.
- The sunhat is removable and worked in blue.
- The mushroom bag hangs across the body with a brown strap.
- The basket holds tiny red and green knitted apples.
- The watering can is beige with embroidered flowers.

Face Details
Eye Placement
The eyes are large, round, and bright blue. Place them wide apart for the soft kitten expression shown in the image. The eyes should sit slightly above the muzzle center, not too high on the forehead.
- Mark eye positions between rounds 18 and 19 of the head.
- Leave about 12 sts between the eyes across the front.
- Insert 12 mm blue safety eyes before final head stuffing is complete.
- If embroidering eyes, satin stitch a blue circle about 0.45 inch wide, then add black pupils and a tiny white highlight.
Muzzle, Nose, Mouth, and Cheeks
- With pale gray or white-gray yarn, lightly duplicate stitch an oval muzzle over the lower front face if your color change did not create enough contrast.
- Use pink thread to embroider a tiny vertical nose between the eyes, centered 3 rounds below eye level.
- Work 5 short satin stitches for the nose, about 0.25 inch wide.
- From the base of the nose, embroider one vertical line downward for 0.25 inch.
- Add two tiny curved mouth lines using charcoal thread.
- Use pink yarn or thread to make blush patches: 7 soft duplicate stitches on each cheek, placed below and outside the eyes.
- For whiskers, use white or light gray embroidery thread. Add 3 long straight stitches on each side of the muzzle.
Tabby Forehead Stripes
The image shows soft dark gray tabby stripes radiating from the top center of the forehead and sides of the face. Use duplicate stitch and long stitches, keeping the stripes irregular and natural.
- Center forehead stripe: Work one vertical charcoal stripe from round 10 to round 17.
- Left forehead stripes: Add two shorter angled stripes, each 4 to 6 stitches long.
- Right forehead stripes: Match the left side, but do not make them perfectly identical.
- Side cheek stripes: Add 2 short gray marks on each side near the ears.
- Blend the stripe ends by making the final stitch half-length with embroidery thread.
Woodland Sweater Dress
The sweater dress is the most detailed knitted garment in this project. It is cream, gently flared, and has a cozy textured surface. - Left fox: Center over stitches 16-25 of the front.

- Row 5: brown 2, tan 2, brown 2.
- Row 6: 4 brown sts.
- Wings: Add 3 darker brown vertical stitches on each side.
- Beak: Add one tiny orange stitch between the eyes.
Leaves and Flowers
- Upper chest leaves: Work 2 green stitches angled together, then add a tiny brown stem.
- Sleeve leaves: Add one small green leaf on each sleeve near the outer arm.
- Grass tufts: Make groups of 3 green straight stitches at different heights.
- Small flowers: Use red, cream, or blue French knots with green stems.
- Keep motifs slightly irregular so they look hand-stitched and natural.
Assembly Order
- Finish knitting and stuffing the legs, body, head, arms, ears, and tail.
- Join the head to the body and secure the neck firmly.
- Sew the folded ears low on the sides of the head.
- Attach the tail behind the left side of the body.
- Pull the sweater dress onto the cat from the feet upward.
- Position the dress so the cable panel is centered on the front.
- Sew the upper arms to the shoulders through the dress armholes.
- Add the green sandals over the feet and secure with hidden stitches.
- Add the headband and flowers across the top of the head.
- Place the mushroom bag strap across the body and sew it in place.
- Place the basket beside one hand and tack it lightly if desired.
- Keep the blue sunhat removable, or tack it beside the doll for display.
- Place the watering can as a separate prop or sew it gently to one paw.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
Shape the face before tying off the final threads. Use a long needle and matching gray yarn to make gentle eye indentations. Insert the needle from the back of the head to the inside edge of one eye, pull lightly, then return to the back. Repeat on the other eye.
Do not pull too tightly. The goal is a soft, round kitten face with slightly sunken eyes and a plush muzzle. Adjust stuffing through the neck area before closing any remaining gaps. Smooth the cheeks with your fingers until both sides look balanced.
- Check that the nose is centered between the eyes.
- Make the mouth small and calm, not smiling too widely.
- Keep the blush soft and round, placed below each eye.
- Add whiskers last so they stay clean and straight.
- Trim loose embroidery threads carefully and hide all ends inside the head.
Care Notes
This knitted cat is best used as a decorative handmade doll. Because it includes small accessories, embroidered details, buttons, and safety eyes, it is not intended for children under 3 years old unless all small parts are replaced with secure embroidery.
- Spot clean with cool water and mild soap.
- Do not machine wash if the doll has safety eyes, buttons, or delicate embroidery.
- Let the doll air dry flat on a towel.
- Reshape the hat brim, dress hem, and ears while damp.
- Keep away from rough surfaces that may snag the embroidery.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- The head is round, large, and evenly stuffed.
- The folded ears sit low and curve forward.
- The eyes are bright blue, wide apart, and level.
- The tabby stripes are visible on the forehead and cheeks.
- The sweater dress is centered with the cable panel in front.
- The foxes, owl, grass, leaves, and flowers are clearly visible.
- The green sandals sit evenly on both feet.
- The mushroom bag hangs from left shoulder to right hip.
- The blue headband has two flowers and small green leaves.
- The basket, apples, watering can, and sunhat are complete.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
To preserve the doll’s shape, store it upright or lying flat in a dry place. Avoid compressing the head or bending the ears for long periods. If dust collects on the dress or accessories, use a soft brush and gently sweep in the direction of the stitches.
For long-term display, keep the doll out of direct sunlight so the blue hat, red mushroom bag, and embroidered woodland motifs stay bright. Place small accessories in a fabric pouch when not displayed. If the dress hem curls, lightly mist it, flatten it by hand, and let it dry naturally.
- Do not bleach.
- Do not tumble dry.
- Do not iron directly over embroidery or safety eyes.
- Refresh the stuffing shape by gently rolling the head and body between your palms.
- Check the buttons, strap, basket handle, and watering can handle occasionally for loose stitches.
Finishing Note
Your Scottish Fold cat in a woodland fox sweater dress is now complete. The finished piece should have a soft gray tabby face, rounded folded ears, a cozy cream dress full of tiny forest motifs, green sandals, a mushroom bag, and garden accessories that make it feel like a miniature storybook character.
