This woodland cow is a softly stuffed, seated knit companion with an oversized cream head, black oval ears, a rounded black muzzle, and a textured white forelock. The cow wears taupe trousers, a cream cardigan decorated with muted green Fair Isle bands, a moss-green garden hat with a tiny daisy, and a crossbody satchel with an acorn charm. A matching Fair Isle cup and miniature red apple complete the garden scene.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Important Construction Notes
- Use a long-tail cast-on unless another method is specified.
- When working in the round, place a marker at the beginning of each round.
- Stuff each piece gradually. Overstuffing will distort the knitted stitches and make clothing difficult to fit.
- Move increases and decreases one stitch sideways when necessary to prevent visible vertical lines.
- For Fair Isle sections, carry unused yarn loosely across the wrong side and catch floats longer than four stitches.
- The safety eyes shown in the finished design are unsuitable for children younger than three years. Embroider the eyes for a baby-safe version.

Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
- Dress the body in the trousers before attaching the legs. Position the legs against the lower front sides of the body between Rnds 8 and 22.
- Angle the legs outward approximately 35 degrees. The feet should face forward with their long edges resting flat on the surface.
- Sew each leg to the body with two complete rounds of strong mattress stitches.
- Place the cardigan over the body. Slide the arms through the sleeves before attaching them.
- Pin the arms between Body Rnds 34 and 43. Angle them downward approximately 20 degrees.
- Sew the upper 1.25 inches or 3 cm of each arm firmly to the body through the cardigan armhole area.
- Center the head over the 32-stitch neck opening. The muzzle must face directly forward.
- Sew the head to the body using the long body tail. Pass through one head stitch and one body stitch at a time.
- Repeat the neck seam a second time for strength. Add a small amount of stuffing through the final opening if the neck bends.
- Place the green hat between the ears. Pull the brim low enough to cover the upper edge of the forelock base.
- Tack the hat to the head at the center back and directly behind each ear.
- Place the satchel strap over the cow’s left shoulder so the bag rests at the right hip.
- Add two tiny cream embroidery stitches to each eye for reflected highlights when embroidered eyes are used.
- Brush the forelock lightly with your fingers and arrange the white strands into short, uneven curls.
Care Notes
Keep the finished cow away from open flames, pets, and excessive moisture. Because the design includes small buttons and safety eyes, it is intended primarily as a decorative collectible unless those pieces are replaced with securely embroidered details.
- Do not machine wash the assembled cow.
- Avoid pulling the satchel strap or carrying the toy by its clothing.
- Reshape the hat brim and cardigan while they are slightly damp.
- Store the apple, cup, and other loose accessories together in a small fabric pouch.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- Confirm that both eyes are level and evenly spaced.
- Check that the muzzle is centered beneath the eyes.
- Make sure both ears project at matching angles.
- Check that the head is firmly attached without visible gaps.
- Confirm that the feet rest flat when the cow is seated.
- Secure all cardigan and satchel buttons with several passes of strong thread.
- Check the Fair Isle floats for loose loops that could catch on fingers.
- Weave every yarn tail into the interior of the nearest stuffed piece.
- Confirm that the hat, flower, leaves, acorn charm, and apple stem are secure.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
For routine cleaning, remove the cup, apple, satchel, hat, cardigan, and trousers when possible. Use a dry lint roller or a soft clean brush to remove surface dust. Brush in the direction of the knitted stitches rather than rubbing sideways.
For a small mark, dampen a white cloth with cool water and a tiny amount of mild wool-safe cleanser. Blot the stained area gently. Do not saturate the stuffing, twist the fabric, or scrub the embroidered facial features.
After spot cleaning, press the area between two dry towels. Support the cow in its seated position and allow it to air-dry completely away from direct sunlight, heaters, and hair dryers.
- Never use bleach, fabric softener, or harsh stain remover.
- Do not place the cow in a washing machine or tumble dryer.
- Do not iron the stuffed body, head, muzzle, or feet.
- Steam the removable cardigan only from a safe distance without touching the fabric.
- Store the cow in a breathable cotton bag rather than an airtight plastic container.
- Add acid-free tissue around the hat brim and ears during long-term storage.
- Keep the toy away from strong sunlight to prevent fading of the green, red, peach, and taupe yarns.
- Inspect the neck seam, eye attachments, buttons, and accessory cords periodically.
