Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
- Sew the body to the head by matching the 24 body stitches to the 24 head stitches. Add extra stuffing to the neck before closing the seam.
- Position the ears between head R14 and R25. Place each ear approximately 4 stitches behind the center line of its nearest eye. Tilt the upper edge outward and the lower edge slightly forward.
- Place the white eye discs between head R18 and R28. Leave approximately 7 visible head stitches between the inside edges of the eye discs.
- Sew the muzzle between head R26 and R35. Center it directly below the eyes. Add stuffing gradually while closing the seam.
- Using brown embroidery thread, stitch a vertical mouth line from the lower point of the nose to the lower center of the muzzle.
- Using black thread, embroider one curved eyebrow approximately 0.75 inch or 2 cm above each eye.
- Add three short upper eyelashes and two shorter lower eyelashes to the outside edge of each eye.
- For each side of the muzzle, attach three long strands of black embroidery thread. Secure them firmly inside the muzzle and trim them to lengths between 4 and 6 inches or 10 and 15 cm.
- Create two small front teeth with white yarn. Ch 4, sc in the second ch and across. FO. Make two and sew them side by side beneath the mouth line.
- Sew the arms to the upper body between body R25 and R30. Angle each arm approximately 15 degrees downward.
- Sew the legs to the underside of the body between body R4 and R9. Leave approximately 7 stitches between the inside edges. Point both toes forward.
- Sew the tail to the center back between body R8 and R11. Curve it downward beneath the skirt.
- Pull the dress over the legs and body before permanently securing the arms. Position the neckline directly beneath the head.
- Tack the back neckline to the body with four small stitches so the dress does not rotate.
- Position the sunflower decorations on the outer sides of the shoes and sew securely.
- Tie the floral crown behind the head. Add several hidden stitches through the green band to hold the crown in position.
- Sew the ladybug inside the right ear. Position the bee above the center-right portion of the crown.
- Place the straw hat, flowerpot, and trowel beside the completed mouse for the full garden display.
Care Notes
Keep the finished mouse away from open flames, heaters, and prolonged direct sunlight. Display the figure on a clean, dry surface. Support the head and body together whenever the mouse is moved because the oversized head places additional pressure on the neck seam.
Do not machine wash the completed figure. The layered eyes, floral crown, whiskers, bee, ladybug, and raised dress decorations may become distorted during machine agitation.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- Confirm that both ears are level and equally cupped.
- Check that the eyes are evenly spaced and face forward.
- Confirm that the muzzle is centered beneath the eyes.
- Check that all safety-eye and safety-nose washers are secure.
- Make sure both legs are attached at the same height.
- Check that the dress chevrons remain centered at the front.
- Confirm that all twelve ivory buds are securely attached.
- Check that the hem flowers are evenly distributed.
- Confirm that the crown, bee, and ladybug cannot be pulled loose.
- Weave in every remaining yarn end.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
For routine cleaning, use a soft lint roller or a clean makeup brush to remove surface dust. Support each flower, leaf, and decorative piece with one hand while brushing around it so the stitches are not stretched.
For small marks, dampen a white cloth with cool water and a tiny amount of mild soap. Dab the affected area without rubbing. Remove soap residue with a second damp cloth and allow the piece to air-dry completely.
While drying, reshape the ears, muzzle, sleeves, skirt scallops, flowers, hat brim, and succulent leaves by hand. Place the mouse on a dry towel in a well-ventilated room. Do not use a tumble dryer, hair dryer, iron, or direct heat source.
For long-term storage, place the mouse in a breathable cotton bag or acid-free storage box. Do not compress the head or fold the ears. Store the hat, flowerpot, and trowel separately so their shapes do not press into the dress or facial details.
